Hello Observers,

Today marks the first anniversary of the game SYSTEM, the game that ended the series.

Although few Happiness games have since been released, they mostly served as epilogues to a series that was already over.

It has been 5 years since I started the Happiness game series. 12 years if you count the light novels.  I guess it's because of that I keep coming back to make more. Just like the Null character, I'm stuck in an endless time loop unable to move on.

5 years ago when I made the first game in the series I wanted to use it to explore important themes and questions I was struggling with personally.  Themes and struggles I felt everyone could relate to regardless of their past and present.

So I purposely didn't give the MC a name nor did I specify the nationality, race, or sexuality of any of the characters. I wanted to push all of these superficial notions aside, stuff that none of us chose when we were born, and instead focus on what really matters.

Happiness, Freedom, and Existence.

Each and every Happiness character goes through their own journey and struggles to find meaning to these notions and by the end of the series most if not all characters manage to find an answer.

One by one they all move on, they all graduate from being characters and simply become unavailable.

Recently I made a short Happiness game called '' Farewell My Despair'' and I genuinely struggled writing it simply because it felt like I was playing with dead bodies, with characters that simply already moved on and didn't want to be written about anymore.

So I guess it's time to say ''Farewell My Happiness'' for real this time and find new characters to torture.
