Mirall's Mansion 004 [My personal thoughts about the series and life]+ (Some Free songs of the series)

Hello Observers,

First of all, if you missed the previous three Mirall Mansion, you can find them below:

Mirall Mansion 001 [ The Making of '' Observer'']

Mirall's Mansion 002 [A History of canceled Happiness games]

Mirall's Mansion 003 [The real people who inspired the Happiness character] (Who are they?) (No spoilers)

Now let’s talk a little about the Happiness series.

Once in a while, when someone asks me what the series is about, I find myself at a loss for a concrete answer. Unlike the stories I wrote before the Happiness series, or the ones I made as part of collaborative games, I can’t sum up its themes and ideas in a few words or phrases.

It was only after I asked ChatGPT itself that I finally got an answer.

So, do I agree with that answer? Does artificial intelligence know the series better than I do?

I don’t know. Maybe.

When I think of the series, I see it as a mirror image of life or at least how I view life. Perhaps because I never expected the series to get any kind of audience, I never tried to appeal to a demographic, a genre, or anything, really. Even now that the series has a player base, and the logical, financially sound decision would be to capitalize on that and make a Happiness dating sim or at least a CC dating sim I still find myself unmotivated to do so. Don’t get me wrong, I tried. I even started working on both projects. But each time, I ended up abandoning them.

Why? Why can’t I just give people what they want? Dating sims and death games that’s what the fanbase craves. Hell, we even did a poll, and those two won by a large margin.

Am I allergic to money? Do I hate romance games? Am I sick of making death games?

The answer to all of those is no. I love money. I love playing romance games. I scour the internet for any signs of death games. So what’s the problem?

Every time I open the game engine, I ask myself that same question. The only answer I can come up with is that those games just don’t feel genuine. They don’t feel like a mirror of life, the way the earlier games in the series do. They feel more like an escape from life.

A way to ignore your problems and lose yourself in a kinder reality and that’s not what the Happiness series is about.

I want to say that the series is about facing the harsh realities of life and coming out on top or something equally profound or cool-sounding but that’s not really true either.

The truth is that the series is my way to connect with others. To share my thoughts, my fears, and my hopes with anyone willing to listen. The games are no different than the “Mirall Mansion” you’re reading right now except the games do it in a more indirect way. Instead of me yapping for hours about something, I just put it in a game and let the characters explore it on my behalf. The music and visuals help too.

In other words, the whole series is just one big elaborate Mirall Mansion.

God, I’m even boring myself typing this. Forget it. Here’s some music from the series, since a lot of you ask for the series songs. (If you want more songs like the songs of Genesis and Observer, then you can download them through the full Happiness game series bundle 29 games in 01 bundle) :
