Character Analysis (2) " Butterfly"
Today I want to think back to one important character in the series "Butterfly".
Butterfly first showed up in Happiness 1 as the antagonist of the story...the villain if you would call him that.
Many think Butterfly name is a reference to the Butterfly effect but that's actually is just a coincidence. His name's is based on a local criminal in my hometown who everyone called Butterfly.
I found it hilarious that a dangerous criminal is being called Butterfly so I used this in Happiness 1.
Butterfly probably had the biggest growth in the series.
He first started as suicidal kid dealing with extreme bullying then he met Zero and he became ravished by revenge .
He married the Carmine from his timeline just because he didn't want to be alone and didn't have any sort of feelings for her but them Mirall was born and much like every other version of Alex in every single timeline . Mirall was and we're always be the beacon of light .
Butterfly finally found someone he loved and loved by genuinely and he was finally happy.
Until... She was taken away by a drunk driver .
Butterfly faced the brutal truth of life once again and his days of despair and pain returned once again.
But unlike most other versions of himself he refused to accept his destiny and started a journey to destroy every timeline in existence and create his own reality. His own happiness.
And that's how he became the antagonist of the series or at least the antagonist of the first game because he died at the end at the hand of Alex.
Such a tragic ending .
But wait it gets worse ...
Butterfly is resurrected following Alex action only to die by his hands a second time and get sent by the "SYSTEM" to basically "Hell" and gets punished for all eternity.
Then "Reeva" a Null who is actually the recarnated soul of princess Reeva the princess who ruled and fought for her kingdom independence in "Existence" freed Butterfly and gave him a second chance for redemption.
After so many years since his Mirall's death , Butterfly has finally experienced a genuine feeling of love once again.
Yeah Butterfly journey is massive especially for some who only shows up in few games but I personally enjoyed writing his journey .
I hate stories with characters are evil just because are evil . It's fine if you are writing a children cartoon but I think most of you who are reading this are adults or young adults .
So yeah Butterfly is one of my favorite character and not to mention he is the only character in the series who ever peed on a girl......A true Sigma lol
Next time I want to talk about Nulls and how they are born and created . I fear I forgot to explain this in the series and I think some of you might find it very interesting .

Butterfly is one of my favorite version of 'Alex', it really shows the character development in every part of the game. To be honest, it's funny to note of that his name wasn't from a butterfly itself because I found it entertaining to see that he died, two times already. Just like the butterflies that was Mirall's pet.
While he did fail creating his 'own happiness', he found one again.
You did left out the part that Reeva was a reincarnated soul though you did say they were the same person so I should have expected it.
Ahh, it's lovely to see CC using the word darling.
Question: Would there be a Character Analysis for the fallen version of the MC?
That commander who failed to get a Null on their side and losing the war while he apologize to his fallen comrade thus getting their time branch deleted?
His true intention did leak out in the end which was one of the saddest part.
Yeah Butterfly name is very suitable to him and it's all by accident haha.
Reeva and how Nulls are created is a very interesting concept for me and I regret I didn't get the chance to put it in a game but I will explain in a later post.
You're talking about the Alex version in the game "End of Happiness" correct ?
He barely made any appearance , what is explained is that covid hit his world followed by Ukraine war but what's unique only to his world is that Covid returner again in 2023 stronger and more lethal and the Ukraine war escalated into WW3.
He fought in that war and used his God power making him a remarkable soldier and he rose through the ranks to "Major".
Then when the danger to his timelines was revealed he played a major role with his companions to unite world leader and request to participate in the Null's game .
His request was denied and the events of "End of Happiness" happened.
What's interesting about him is how much he supported his comrades in their final hours telling to stay strong and to die with dignity but at the beach scene with Carmine he finally broke down and his true desires leaked from his mouth .
" I don't want to die"
At the end after all his heroic actions he was just a simple human who wanted to live .
But sadly he and everyone his timeline is deleted.
The story is supposed to show the high stakes Alex and his companions are going to have in the game "Divinity". If they failed to stop Destiny , the same thing will happen to them and their world.
It also supposed to foreshadow who the true villain of the story is and their real enemy "THE SYSTEM".
Even Alex couldn't defeat "THE SYSTEM" in the end.
If the series ever continues I'm guessing Butterfly will be leading the series as the new main character alongside CC and Zero in their new endeavor to finally defeat the "SYSTEM"
I see, I might need to thank that Butterfly criminal though he shouldn't have done it.
